Sharing an eBike: Problem-solving

Sharing your eBike with other people can lead to problems or restrictions in certain situations. Here are a few typical scenarios – and what you can do in these cases if necessary.

Certain features are not available
Certain features or premium services can only be managed or used by the main user. This applies to the following features:

  • Enabling and disabling eBike Lock
  • Managing eBike Alarm
  • Storing data in the eBike pass
  • Carrying out updates over-the-air

Bluetooth conflicts when switching on the eBike
If several smartphones with valid authorisation are within Bluetooth range at the same time, it is not possible to predict which device will establish the connection with the eBike.
On your Kiox 300, Kiox 500 or Kiox 400C, you can see which smartphone is connected on the Status screen. This is where the name of the connected Bluetooth device is displayed.

Tip: Disable Bluetooth on the smartphone you do not want to establish a connection with before switching on the eBike. This ensures that your desired smartphone records the activity and can unlock the eBike automatically.

Bluetooth conflicts while riding the eBike
If two smartphones are within Bluetooth range while you are riding the eBike and the connection with your device is interrupted, the eBike may connect with the other smartphone.
The result: Your activities in the statistics may not be recorded correctly, as they are distributed among several users.

Tip: Ensure that only one smartphone is actively connected and disconnect any unwanted connections.

Maximum number of connected devices reached
The smart system can remember Bluetooth devices that it has been connected with before – this is called “bonding”. Up to ten such connections can be saved in total: three storage locations for smartphones only, and seven more for smartphones, eBike components or accessories (e.g. Mini Remote, eShift, heart rate monitor).

If all locations are occupied, the device that has not been used for the longest time will be automatically removed.
